The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will help kick-start Northampton’s summer with their ultimate British spectacular. On Sunday 15 July, Royal & Derngate’s resident Orchestra will continue their 2018/19 classical season with their Last Night of the Derngate Proms concert. Full of Pomp and Circumstance, this concert celebrates the best of British music, alongside many other well-loved classical masterpieces, popular arias and Proms favourites.
An evening of fun for all is guaranteed in an orchestral extravaganza conducted and presented Nick Davies, featuring soprano Katerina Mina.
Audiences are invited to bring along their union jack flags and their singing voices for some rousing and exhilarating music, including Elgar’s Chanson de Nuit, Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad, Elgar’s Pomp And Circumstance March No.1, Vaughan Williams’ The Wasps Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin: Polonaise, Sibelius’ Karelia Suite: Intermezzo, Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance No.8 and Parry’s Jerusalem.
A perfect way to spend a summer evening with family, Last Night of the Derngate Proms starts at 7.30pm on Sunday 15 July, and concert-goers can hear more about the programme at a pre-concert talk at 6.30pm, hosted by BBC Radio Northampton’s John Griff.
