Now you can support Royal & Derngate by owning Made In Northampton music

Working with record company Atlantic Screen Music, Northampton’s Royal & Derngate have released a charity compilation album, Incidental: Music for the Stage, to raise funds for the theatre as it recovers from the effects of the pandemic. The album, which features music from past productions including The Pope, Brave New World, The Hook, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Tale of Two Cities, is available as a CD which can be ordered from www.incidentalmusicforthestage.com or to stream from Spotify, Bandcamp, iTunes, Deezer and Tidal at https://orcd.co/incidentalmusicforthestage.

Over the past decade, the theatre’s Artistic Director James Dacre has commissioned some of the most prominent composers working today to write original music for stage productions at Royal & Derngate – including  White Lies, Guy Chambers and These New Puritans; Oscar, Emmy and Grammy award winning film composers Rachel Portman and Anne Dudley; leading opera composers Orlando Gough and Jessica Walker, British Bhangra pioneer Kuljit Bhamra, ground-breaking classical and electronic composers Isobel Waller-Bridge and Valgeir Sigurðsson, pioneering rock musicians James Johnston and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, sound Designer Donato Wharton and 2020 Ivor Novello Award winner Renell Shaw.

The theatre has partnered with Atlantic Screen Music to bring those pieces together as a classical and electronic music album. The music is accompanied by narration and monologues from the plays which inspired them, directed by Dacre and specially recorded by some of the world’s most celebrated actors including Judi Dench, Amanda Seyfried, Felicity Jones, Giles Terera, Patricia Routledge, James Norton, Sharon D Clarke, Lesley Sharp, Stephen Fry, Indira Varma, Maxine Peake and Simon Russell Beale
The album will raise funds to support Royal & Derngate and to help them continue to produce their award-winning Made in Northampton productions. For more information, visit www.incidentalmusicforthestage.com
