NLive Radio shortlisted in national radio awards

Northampton community radio station NLive Radio has been shortlisted in the annual national Community Radio Awards.

The station has made the shortlist, which was whittled down from more than 460 entries from 90 stations from every corner of the UK.

The station has picked up the nomination in the Sports Show of the Year category for their Monday Morning Sports Show with William Oelrich.

Martin Steers, Station Manager, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised among a large number of other stations doing great work across the UK.

“I’m so proud of William and all the NLive radio presenters for all the great work they do entertaining, informing and supporting our audience and community, we’re proud to be the local radio station serving everyone in Northampton.”

Northampton College student William Oelrich, the show’s presenter, said: “This year has been so surreal and to add this is another massive achievement and I can’t thank everyone enough for all their support.

“I love doing the sports show because talking about sport becomes second nature to me. It’s also great to connect with the local sports around Northampton and highlight community sports people might not know about.

“It also gives me an opportunity to volunteer at a fantastic radio station with fantastic people.”

Maxine Jones, awards director, said: “This year has been a challenge for the sector, but community radio stations have responded by stepping up engagement with their local communities, with more programming and innovative presenters across the country broadcasting from home.

“It is clear to see from this, that passionate presenters, volunteers, and staff are really there for their audiences. These local radio stations are truly at the heart of their communities.

“We wish NLive Radio good luck and can’t wait to host the ceremony virtually next month.”
