How about a personal tour of a castle for a Father’s Day present?

If you’ve been enjoying the swords and sieges in the hit TV series Game of Thrones then don’t miss a chance for an insight into a real medieval stronghold.

Rockingham Castle is offering a special Father’s Day experience starting with a full English breakfast, a tour of the castle and then rounding the day off with a Knights of Nottingham jousting demonstration.

The jousting takes place between 12 and 3pm on Sunday and tickets are available for just that.

But if you want to upgrade it to an extra special day out you can snap up some of the limited tickets that get you access to the following:

10.30am:  A full English breakfast (vegetarian and gluten free options available) inside the Castle Courtyard – in Walkers House, a historic building dating back to 1655 when it was completed by the 2nd Lord Rockingham.

11.30: Step inside this Norman castle and have an out of hours exclusive tour. Rockingham Castle, nearly 950 years old, was ordered to be built by William the Conqueror and has been owned by just one family since being relinquished as a royal Castle. Our Guide will take guests into this family owned castle, through the old kitchens, into the Great Hall and up into the stunning Long Gallery.

1pm: The main event begins. Fire eaters will entertain the crowds on the terrace lawn and Oxford Household will invite younger members of your family into the jousting arena.2.30pm: The Knights of Nottingham make a thrilling return to Rockingham Castle. With banners streaming and the glint of sun on steel-bladed swords and axes, these armoured knights will fight it out on horseback and on foot.
