The villagers of Creaton have opened their own community shop selling a mix of big brands, own brands and local produce a year after their village store closed.
Yesterday Creaton Village Shop announced on its Facebook page that its doors will be open for business today.
Signage and finishing touches to the frontage happened this week as well as a last minute appeal for more volunteers: “We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help out in the shop – if you have a spare hour or two please get in touch via volunteers@creatonvillageshop.co.uk- many thanks.”
The shop team states on its Facebook page: “When we started this page, we wrote: Creaton is to lose its village shop and Post Office in early 2017…unless we can Save Our Shop. Now we are about to open the new Creaton Village Shop in the summer of 2018. So far we have raised over £150,00 and sold shares in the Community Benefit Society to over 100 households. This truly is a community shop.”
