A family of swans photographed by Dave Ikin appears to have been hit by catastrophe.
Dave had followed the development of the swans and signets since they were eggs and had been hoping to get a shot of the babies on their mothers back before they learned to swim.
The quick learners were paddling about on the water before he had a chance but on his latest visit he has found the family reduced by one swan and several signets.
“We think it was vandals. Someone said that the male swan had an airgun pellet through his neck. Its senseless,” said Dave.
