Northampton Carnival takes place on Saturday June 9 with the event involving more people than ever, writes Elisha Dexter.
It starts and finishes at the Racecourse where there will also be many different stalls and attractions.
The theme of Peace, Hope and Unity is intended to celebrate the diverse communities within Northampton. It is a theme that allows all cultures from the town to celebrate their contribution to its evolving story.
Northampton carnival has two parts: the parade and the stalls and performances that take place throughout the day. The parade will depart from the Racecourse at 2pm, travel along Kettering Road into the town centre ending back at the Racecourse. The parade will feature floats, bands and elaborate costumes.
The Racecourse site opens at noon and continues until 7:30pm. There will be fairground rides and a showcase of local and regional talent. The entertainment will feature a broad range of acts from solo acts, bands, dance groups and choirs. Stalls will also feature a broad variety of items ranging from caribbean food and crafts to sweets and charities.
