From Elvis to Adele, from Cilla to The Four Seasons, The Bee Gees to Sir Elton, Coldpay to The Spice Girls, and the legendary duo that is Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers – there’s a fantastic variety of tribute acts entertaining audiences at Northampton’s Deco Theatre this Spring, writes Peter Jones.
But launching the Spring extravaganza is the fantastic Kast Off Kinks – not a tribute act, but a band made up of members who all in their time played with Ray Davies in the original Kinks, but who have since teamed up to form an awesome band that returns to The Deco by popular demand after a brilliant performance last year.
Also back by popular demand this year is Sarah Evans who brings J’Adele show back to The Deco on Friday, April 13, 18 months after a bravura performance as her hero, when she earned much deserved standing ovations. By the way, Adele herself was so impressed when she saw Sarah’s tribute show, she gave her a five star rating.
Another act returning after wowing audiences is Fisher Stevens, who was a smash hit at The Deco with his tribute to Neil Diamond in 2016, but now returns with his internationally acclaimed Elvis in Vegas show on Saturday, April 14. Fisher has taken his Elvis act all over the world, and is recognised as one of the finest Elvis tribute performers around.
“We’re really delighted that Fisher’s returning to The Deco with his Elvis show, and that Sarah Evans is coming back as Adele because these really are two of the best tribute acts in the business,” said Deco House Manager Jill Roach.
“But all of them are fantastic – we are very selective as to who we invite to perform at The Deco, and by being so fussy we know that we’re putting on some fantastic nights out for local people to come and enjoy,” she said. “If you loved The Jersey Boys you’ll love the Bye Bye Baby tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and before that there’s awesome tributes to Cilla Black, the Bee Gees, Elton John, Coldplay, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, and The Spice Girls.
“The Kast Off Kinks put on a great night at The Deco when they played here last March, and we were delighted to invite them back. They kick off our Spring programme on March 22, and we know that’s going to be another great night.”
Another Spring highlight at The Deco is Easter Holiday Panto on April 11 and 12. The Deco has carved out a proud reputation for the high quality of its Pantos over the past 10 years, and Alice in Wonderland looks set to be another winner. Featuring Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashleigh Butler and her new dog Sully, children’s TV legend Dave Benson-Phillips, and former ‘Men Behaving Badly’ star Lesley Ash, there’s two performances, Said Jill Roach: “It’s great family entertainment for the school Easter Holiday.
“We’ve done a couple of Spring Pantos, and they’re great fun – it’s not a traditional Panto time of year, but we believe Panto’s to be enjoyed at anytime of the year, not just Christmas, and we’re really looking forward to this show.”
