Northampton Saints announce 7s squad

The Northampton Saints squad has been announced for this weekend’s Singha Premiership Rugby Sevens Series, which is being played in its entirety at Franklin’s Gardens on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. All 12 players are either currently in or have graduated from the Saints Academy system and the club’s coaches have picked a blend of exciting young talent and more established first teamers. Tom Stephenson makes his first Franklin’s Gardens appearance for nearly a year after gaining match fitness playing for Sydney club Randwick over the past few weeks. Tom Collins, who joined Stephenson in Australia, is also in the squad, as is Ollie Sleightholme, who helped England win silver in the recent Commonwealth Youth Games. Saints play Exeter and Saracens in Friday night’s pool stages. The winners and runners-up from each of the four pools will progress into the Cup quarter finals on Saturday, with the third-placed team competing in the Bowl semi-final. Gates on Friday open at 4pm to allow plenty of time for bags to be searched at turnstiles, with a Meet the Saints signing session starting at 4:30pm. The rugby kicks off at 6pm and lasts until approximately 10:20pm. Saturday’s Festival of Rugby opens at 12noon, with the rugby itself lasting between 3pm and approximately 7:30pm. On both days there will be plenty of fun and entertainment for all the family both on and off the pitch, making the £50 Family ticket for both days fantastic value for money! Supporters coming on Saturday should be aware that there will be promotional filming for the new Channel 5 Premiership Rugby highlights show taking place with Mark Durden-Smith and David Flatman in various parts of the stadium.
