GO DOWN SWINGING
A new play by Dan McGarry

A FREE rehearsed reading of a new play inspired by the life of Edwin Valero, a world champion boxer from Venezuela, takes place this Friday, June 23 at Royal & Derngate’s Underground Studios.
Actor and playwright Dan McGarry explained: “The action is transposed to the UK and deals with what happens when an elite sportsman is forced to retire at the top of his game. Standing 8 has a commitment to giving a voice to those who aren’t heard and this play looks at the effects of domestic violence.”
This is the first play from this exciting new theatre company that promises to explore theatre with a social message. Not only will this evening be a showcase of new writing but will also be the chance to see what five accomplished actors can achieve with just a day of rehearsal.
