JFH looks for Cobblers to go on the attack

Kirk Asiedu was at the press conference where new Cobblers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink met the media…

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was unveiled as the new Northampton Town FC manager and he did not leave it long before he got ‘stuck in’ to the task at hand conducting his first training session and meeting with the media.

Hasselbaink is optimistic about the task ahead, however he did not underestimate the magnitude of it: “I am very excited to be here but there is a lot of work to be done”.

He added: “I believe there is a lot of talent in this team and we are all ready to move together as a unit.”

Hasselbaink is hoping fans will notice a difference in the style of play.

“I have a certain philosophy and if I am able to play attacking football then that is exactly what I will do,” he said.

“I would like to play two up front but with the current team it may not be possible for us to do that,” he added, which may leave room for a Dutch style attacking formation with one striker supported by two wingers.

This will be music to the ears of Cobblers fans and no doubt Hasselbaink also scored some loyalty points after he said: “This is a bigger club than Burton.”

Northampton town take on Doncaster on Saturday at Sixfields with every fan hoping Hasselbaink can be the Cobblers ‘flying Dutchman’.
